Something has to change.
Ovarian cancer sneaks into our lives and then hits like a ton of bricks. It affects us and our families right where it hurts most: our mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, friends and wives.
During ovarian cancer awareness month in September 2013, "Shake Your Teal Feathers" started in an effort to bring together people in our community who wanted to make a change. More awareness, more medical research and more support for those facing an ovarian cancer diagnosis.
More. More. More.
To ensure we continue to move forward in these areas, all proceeds from this event go directly to the invaluable work of the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA).
Established in 2011, MIOCA promotes saving women's lives through early detection of ovarian cancer and improved treatment outcomes. In addition to community outreach and education, MIOCA provides advocacy, resources and support throughout Michigan.

Why did we call it "Shake Your Teal Feathers"? Well, first off, teal is the color for ovarian cancer. Second, have you ever tried shaking a feather? They appear delicate on the outside as they blow, but their core keeps them strong. We felt this was the perfect symbol for this important cause!
